Working with The Westmead Children’s Hospital

Mirvac's long standing relationship with The Westmead's Children Hospital continued this year, with the Group supporting the Hospital at their Teddy Bear Clinic at The Royal Easter Show.

Bringing Joy with Teddy Bears

Mirvac has long been a supporter of The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and the incredible work they do to provide the best possible care for children. The Hospital is the largest paediatric centre in NSW specialising in treating seriously ill children with over 4,400 staff caring for more than 80,000 sick children and their families every year. This includes around 32,000 admissions, 59,000 emergency department presentations and more than 688,000 outpatient visits.

This year we have shown our support again by helping with their Teddy Bear Clinic at The Royal Easter Show. The Teddy Bear Clinic was designed so that kids (and adults) could experience for themselves some of the aspects involved in being treated at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. Children were invited to bring along their teddy bear, or any other toy, to visit the Emergency department where the teddy was given a physical examination, followed by a scan in the MRI machine. Headphones added to the experience by making the sounds of an MRI machine . Overall, kids left with a bit more knowledge, and hopefully a bit less fear, of what a hospital visit involves.

Our teams across Development, Design, Construction, Des+Pres and Marketing were all involved in seeing the vision for the stand come to life – all the way from the designing the MRI beds through to construction of the entire stand. The incredible result would also not be possible without the support of some of our amazing suppliers including Red Robin Kitchens, Novak Signs, Dallimont Electrical and Camden Hire, to whom we are extremely grateful.
